D&RGW narrow gauge drop botom gondola (#702) arrived on Thursday September 2, 2004. It was obtained from the Durango and Silverton Railroad silent auction held during the 2004 Railfest. Several pictures of the gondola are shown below. The first photo shows the gondola being loaded in Durango , the next photo shows it positioned on the display track at the Museum. The next two photos show the car after painting and lettering - the lower right-hand photo shows the north side of the car lettered in the D&RGW 1940's freight car scheme and the lower left-hand photo shows the south side of the car lettered in the D&RGW 1930's freight car scheme. The next two photos, taken May 10, 2008, show the four drop bottom doors that had been replaced on the north side at that time. The last photo shows three more doors that were added to the south side during our June 2009 Work Week. We currently have only four more to replace!
